01 · The commitment

The commitment

You should be able to use this site however you browse.

With a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, voice control, a small phone in flour-dusted hands, or a browser set to twice the text size: this site should work for you. TMB Baking is building toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard the W3C publishes and most accessibility law references.

This page states where the site stands today, what is built in, where it may fall short, and how to reach a person the moment it does.

02 · Where it stands

Conformance status

Partially conformant, and honest about which pages.

tmbbaking.com is being rebuilt page by page. The rebuilt pages are designed and checked against WCAG 2.2 AA as part of the build. Pages that have not yet been rebuilt predate this commitment and have not been assessed. In the W3C’s vocabulary, the site is partially conformant: some parts of the content do not yet fully conform.

This statement is reviewed each time a group of pages is rebuilt, and at least once a year.

03 · Built in

What is built in

Measured in the build, not eyeballed afterward.

Every rebuilt page ships with these, and the build checks fail if they are missing:

Structure
One heading per page at the top, headings in order, landmarks and lists that read correctly without any styling.
Keyboard
Every link, button, form field, and control reachable in a sensible order and operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
Contrast
Text and control colors measured against the WCAG minimums; the site uses a fixed palette so a passing pair stays passing.
Text size
Text scales to 200 percent in the browser without loss of content or function. Layouts reflow at seven widths, phone to widescreen.
Motion
Your reduced-motion setting is honored. Animation switches off entirely, and nothing flashes.
Images
Alternative text on every image that carries meaning; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
Forms
Visible labels on every field, plain-language questions, and error messages that say which field and what to fix.
Scripts optional
Every page is complete with JavaScript off. Scripts add convenience, never access.
Skip link
A skip-to-content link is the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page.
Held · owner: Polo (AC1)The skip link in the site header points at a target that most rebuilt pages do not yet carry. This page carries it. The site-wide fix is one line in the header template and lands before this page publishes, so the row above is true the day it is read.
04 · Known limits

Where it may fall short

Named plainly, each with a way around it.

Manufacturer documents
Cut sheets, manuals, and spec PDFs are produced by the equipment makers and may not be tagged for screen readers. Call the counter and a person reads you the sheet or sends the facts as plain text, the same day.
Embedded services
Video players, maps, the checkout’s card fields, and reviews are built by their providers and carry their providers’ accessibility. Where one blocks you, the counter does the same job by phone.
Pages awaiting rebuild
Older pages have not been assessed. They are replaced on the rebuild schedule rather than patched twice.
Photography
Some product and workshop photographs are still being made. Where a picture is not yet in place, the page says so in words rather than showing an empty frame.
05 · Adjust the view

Adjusting the view yourself

The site is built to take the settings your browser already has.

Larger text
Use your browser’s zoom (Ctrl or Cmd with plus). The layout reflows up to 200 percent and beyond.
Less motion
Turn on reduce motion in your operating system’s accessibility settings. The site detects it and stops animating.
Screen readers
The rebuilt pages are structured for NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack: headings, landmarks, and named links throughout.
Keyboard only
Tab moves forward, Shift-Tab back, Enter activates. The first Tab on any page offers the skip link.
Voice control
Links and buttons say what they do, so the words you see are the words you speak.
06 · How it is checked

How conformance is checked

Automated checks in every build. Human checks on every rebuilt page.

Each rebuilt page passes an automated check suite before it ships: heading order, landmark structure, contrast of every text color against its ground, label presence on every field, alternative text presence, and a render with scripts disabled. Each page is then walked by keyboard alone at phone and desktop widths.

The site is built in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and relies on those three technologies for conformance.

Held · owner: Polo (AC3)Testing with a screen reader is not yet part of the build pass, and this page does not claim it. When it is added, this clause says so, with the readers used.
Held · owner: Greg (AC4)No third-party accessibility audit has been commissioned. One is recommended after launch; when it happens, its date and scope are printed here.
07 · By phone

Everything works by phone

If the site will not cooperate, a person will.

Nothing on this site is site-only. You can get a price, place a smallwares order, request an equipment quote, check an order, ask for a document, or ask any question by calling the counter, Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:30 Pacific, in English or Spanish. Email works the same way, at contact@tmbbaking.com.

08 · Tell us

Found a barrier?

Say where you were and what happened. It goes on the build list, not a someday list.

If something here does not work with your screen reader, keyboard, magnifier, or voice control, write to contact@tmbbaking.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line, or call (650) 589-5724. Name the page and what stopped you. You will hear back within one business day, and the fix is scheduled with the next build.

If you are not satisfied with the response, ask for the general manager by name at the same number; the request goes to him directly.

Held · owner: Greg (AC5)Naming the general manager on this page as the escalation point needs his written agreement. Until then the sentence reads “the general manager” and the counter routes the call.

The counter is the accessible version of everything.
